The Friends of the Library have announced their winter book sale!  It will be held at the Town Hall on February 19, 2011 from 10-2.  If you are around, your assistance is welcome- set up on Friday at 9am and Saturday 2:00 take-down. Let me know if you are available!

The Indian Lake Library will be closed on Christmas Eve, Friday night and Saturday, Christmas Day.  We will also close on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day

The New York State Department of Labor devotes an entire section of its web site to “Unemployment Assistance” at < http://www.labor.ny.gov/unemploymentassistance.shtm >.  Information is available in ten languages in addition to English.  Broad categories include General Unemployment Information, Claims and Eligibility Deadlines, and Information for Employers.

For those recently unemployed, the FAQ called “Before You Apply For Unemployment” is available at < http://www.labor.ny.gov/ui/claimantinfo/beforeyouapplyfaq.shtm > and a video “How to File an Unemployment Insurance Claim” can be viewed at < http://www.labor.ny.gov/ui/how_to_file_claim.shtm >.

The “Looking For a Job” section of the web site < http://www.labor.ny.gov/lookingforajob.shtm > provides links to information about finding employment, including assistance available from the Department of Labor.

Autumn Sunshine

Library use is slowing down a bit, leaves are changing and visitors return for weekends only. Change is in the air along with the cool, fresh breeze.  Time to catch up on all those books!  Also time to submit your programming ideas for the coming months. Please include your preferred time and day of the week!

“The Princess and the Frog”

Summer reading continues on Tuesdays.  Come to our 11 am showing of  “The Princess and the Frog” at the Indian Lake Theater.  Prizes for costumed customers!  This program is free and open to all. Wear your tiara!

OK, OK, MORE summer reading!

It’s so hard to stop!  Soooooo….. we will continue to have book/movie Tuesdays at the theater until the end of August and just one more Wednesday night at the library August 18th

Dress as your favorite character in Peter Pan for the movie, 11 am Tuesday, August 17th at the Indian Lake Theater.  All are welcome to this free movie. Popcorn and a drink provided, of course!

August 11 7:00 PM Make a Splash Awards

So many kids have been reading this summer, and we certainly expect that to continue,  but Make A Splash awards need to be made before the warm summer breezes cease! August 11, we will have special reading awards and prizes along with our final program for the entire family, “Telling Your Story” with Kent Busman.  See you there!!
