This will be the second to last day of Michael’s 10 day tour along New York Route 28, from Kingston to Warrensburg. He will share stories and photos from the tour. The route will take him from the Hudson River to the Hudson River, via the Catskills, Mohawk Valley and the Adirondacks.Michael will also share creative non-fiction and poetry from his many decades of travel across America: from the 30,000 miles of hitchhiking back in the early 70s to his more recent poetic journeys across the landscape of America.

INDIAN LAKE WRITERS’ GROUP    Monthly Newsletter  May, 2014  Donna Bradley LXXXX

Chris began our meeting by reviewing the progress we have been making toward the publication of our next chap book.  The deadline for entries has passed, but a few more might be dribbling in.  Chris listed the pieces that she has received.  She has been communicating with Michael Czarnecki about the final selection of the type of book we wish to publish.  Questions remain as to an effective title. All ideas are welcomed.  We would love a very clever and enticing title.  We also need ideas for the cover.  This could be a photo or a sketch of the area. Do bring your ideas to the next meeting.

Michael Czarnecki will be coming to the Indian Lake Library on the evening of June 11 for a reading.  He is on another road trip, this one on Route 28 from beginning to end.  He is giving readings along the way and we are on his agenda.  Mark your calendars and do plan to come and hear our inspiring poet and publisher.  Continue reading

The library will reopen on Tuesday, May 27 and after Memorial Day we will change to “summer hours” by reopening on Wednesday evenings.  In July, we hope to return to expanded hours that we all enjoyed last year, if resources allow.  Our hours effective May 27 will be:

Monday: 12-4, 7-9

Tuesday: 11-3

Wednesday: 1-4, 7-9

Thursday: Closed

Friday: 12-4; 7-9

We know that irregular hours can be confusing, but we offer these hours at different times so that people can come to the library, no matter what their schedules!  Thanks for your understanding

Monthly Newsletter April, 2014   Donna Bradley LXXXIX

A spring snow and crisp, very cold air created a challenge met by our biggest group in a long time.  I think we all needed to “get out”, and fourteen of us did just that. We had to connect two tables together and we used every available chair in the library to provide seating.  And we were on a roll.

After introductions, since we had three new attendees, Chris updated us on the progress we are making toward the publication of our third Chap Book.Continue reading
