This week’s Big Crafty is another needle felting project, this time in the 3rd dimension! No experience is necessary. Felting with wool is a fascinating process. There are many ways to accomplish it and needle felting is one of the most fun.
In November we needle felted onto a flat, 2-dimensional surface to create a one-of-a-kind wool trivet. This week we’ll use wool to create a 3-dimensional snowperson figure you can hang on a tree or use to decorate a table top.
This project is geared toward adults, teens, and older elementary ages, as it entails use of a very sharp needle.
First we will discuss safety and the proper use of the felting needle. Then we will learn about the process of how felting works. We’ll then walk you through the process of building a basic snowperson. Lastly we will use colored wool to give our snow people a bit of personality.
First you’ll need to register by filling out the registration form found below. By registering you will receive two things you’ll need in order to participate:
- The exclusive link to the program which you will join on Wed. Dec. 9 at 6:30
- The materials kits with the unique supplies you’ll need to make your snowperson (we will ask you to return your needles and foam blocks so we can re-use them in other needle felting projects we have planned)
While the kits will have the unique supplies, we hope you will have on hand a few basics, these are:
- band-aids, just in case
Everything else we will provide! We have enough supplies for up to 20 participants, so sign up soon!
New to online programs and not sure how to do a Zoom meeting? Not to worry! The registration form gives you the chance to ask for our help figuring out Zoom prior to the program!
Zoom links will go out Tuesdays, with a reminder sent Wednesday afternoons.
